Pioneering polar explorer and artist Sir Wally Herbert spent his life exploring, mapping, drawing and recording the Polar Regions. He was an award-winning author, and was awarded several medals for his accomplishments. He was knighted for services to polar exploration.
Becoming an artist in later life, Sir Wally devoted his final years to recording in watercolours and oils the beauty and majesty of the Polar Regions and re-imagined historic expeditions or memories of time spent with the Inuit of Northwest Greenland. The deep respect and understanding he had for the polar wilds is imbued in every brushstroke.
His artworks are held in private collections around the world, and owned by celebrities and members of the Royal Family.
