Painted on location at Cape Cornwall in West Penwith, this watercolour captures the energy of a fast incoming tide at one of Cornwall's most picturesque spots.

With rich turquoise and deep blues layered over warm rock, this unusual use of watercolour - with bold brushwork, energetic splashes and decisive layering - echoes the energy and contrast of the ancient rocks teased by the ever-restless sea. 

As this was painted entirely on location, the painting has natural irregularities, where sea spray and rain has fallen on the paper. It all adds to the sense of place!
