Echoes of Light by Kari Herbert

Painted in acrylics, this small painting on canvas captures a vibrant waterside scene with bursts of light and an intriguing sense of space.  

With rich, layered turquoise, pinks and peaches combined with soft, muted greys and burnt oranges, this complex colour palette evokes the natural complexity and coherence of a single moment in nature. There's a tension between the billowing, painterly clouds and the more abstract brushwork of the water and the rocky causeway; between the vibrancy of the pops of colour and the more grounded, earthy base notes just visible beneath.

It's a painting that evokes a sense of peace and yet a feeling of still moving forward with optimism and joy.
