Expressive semi-abstract landscape art that brings a sense of freedom, beauty and positive energy into your home.

Expressive, semi-abstract landscape art for the sea dreamers, the light seekers, the horizon gazers, the wild nature lovers.

Welcome! I’m a contemporary British artist inspired by wild, elemental places — from the windswept Cornish coast and moors to the remote Arctic, and beyond.

My paintings capture those emotive, fleeting moments in nature where light shifts, seasons turn, and the earth feels alive beneath your feet. Whether evoking the golden calm of a sunrise or the crackling energy of a break between storms, each piece is created to bring a deep sense of connection and wonder into your home.

Bringing Nature Home

My work evokes the feeling of being immersed in expansive, elemental landscapes — a reminder of what it means to feel deeply and live freely.

Through texture, colour, and expressive mark-making, I aim to strike a harmonious balance between vibrancy and stillness, energy and calm. Each original fine art piece is created with intention, inviting soulful connection and a sense of restorative wellbeing — to help you create a luxurious, grounding space — your sanctuary.

Hello, I'm Kari -

I’m a contemporary British artist creating energy-infused artworks inspired by wild nature, the elements, adventure, freedom, and soulful expression – all things that move me deeply.

I’ve lived many creative lives. Although I completed an art degree, I chose to become a travel photojournalist rather than a fine artist – I inherited my wanderlust and creativity from my late dad, Sir Wally Herbert, a polar explorer and artist. Over the years, I’ve dabbled as a fashion stylist for Japanese rock bands, worked as a voice artist, a speaker and a polar guide; I’ve written 7 books, and founded an indie publishing company celebrating exploration and visual culture.

Each chapter of my life has been driven by curiosity and a deep love of beauty, creativity, and the natural world.

Yet, deep down, my own art practice was always quietly calling. I began by illustrating books, writing blogs for an art school, and developing creative mindfulness techniques. Finally, something clicked. I set aside my inner critic and gave myself permission to play, experiment, and create.

This is the start of a new chapter – and I’d love for you to join me on the journey.

  • "I saw one of Kari's paintings a few months ago and simply had to buy it. There is such tenderness and delicacy in her paintings, but there's also an underlying sense of the ever-changing nature of things. She captures moments in time so beautifully. I find her work utterly intriguing." PL - 5 Stars

  • “I just bought one of Kari’s new original paintings. It’s just so beautiful. The dark
and stormy Cornish beach, with a glimpse of warm light, shows Kari’s skill and understanding in creating a dramatic sense of light and shade along with depth and a wonderful shape of movement...

My family and I love this piece. Thank you Kari for the joy you’ve brought to our home and for reminding me of the love and yearning I have for Cornwall.” James Williamson - 5 Stars
